Stocelet Frieze

One day while looking at some paintings by Klimt, l came across a painting that l hadn't seen before. It was the Stoclet Frieze. I couldn't get the picture out of my head and knew l would have to do it in textile. I first dyed fabrics randomly and some were overlayered. Acrylic paints were used freely and texture medium and papers. I machined it as that was more suited to it than hand stitching. Cords made with a Lucet were added to the sides and hand made paper beads were burnt and aged. The pole at the top was a branch from an oak tree in my garden.

Size 17" x 36" or 43cm x 90cm
