Jills Bio:

Jill Smith has taken six City and Guilds in various art disciplines in the UK.
She got married in Edinburgh Scotland and has one son and two delightful grandchildren, her girls.
Her rich and colourful wall hangings are in a lot of collections around the world and she enters in lots of shows and competitions overseas and in the UK each year.
Her work has changed over the years and has got a lot stronger and her colour palette has developed with her, she takes commissions for people and for corporate buildings here in England and overseas but also does small hangings for people in lots of subjects and will also work with the client to make something special.
She has done work for 'Starbucks' in England and work for buildings in France and USA.
She also teaches teaches distance classes online that book up quickly and also mentor's young people doing design diploma's from different country's.

Artist statement:

I enjoy working with fabric and all the new products that are around for artist's now. I use silk, velvets, cotton that l dye myself ,paints and various threads in exotic weights and colours and lots of other techniques. I also do bonded applique and free motion embroidery extensively on the surface of the hanging. Each one is a hanging that will never be copied so its exclusive for you.
I enjoy teaching and sharing the techniques I'm using and to encourage others to find their art through different fiber's.
